Have over hundred thousand miles on these tires and still going..
Amazing traction safe and long lasting
Not even 40,000 miles in and my tires need to be replaced. I was told they need to be prorated. Disappointed for the price. My car almost didn’t pass inspection and I was floored when they showed me my tires! The tires handling and performance was always good, don’t know why his happened. But I’m not very happy with My Michelin’s defenders right now.
I use to put Michelin tires on all my vehicles until I purchased the Defender series which were supposed to be rated very high, the tires did handle very well for the tread life I did get out of them, but they didn't come close to 90,000 miles they were rated at. Tires were always rotated on a regular bases and had alignment checks done on the vehicle. Do not purchase these tires unless you like throwing away your money they are rather pricey.
You can't drive on gravel roads for fear of getting a flat tire from sharp gravel. First tires ever (over many years/brands) to get a flat tire from gravel.
I bought these tires in San Diego to drive home (Wisconsin) in December. I had some snow and ice covered roads driving home. These tires handled it without trouble. You won't regret buying these tires. Worth the every penny. I am planning on buying these for my other cars.
Michelin better re-think their 90,000 mile warranty for such a pricey tire. Even though tires performed very well I was told I needed new tires with only approx. 35,000 miles on these and only 3 years old (rotated on a regular basis) I don't think I would buy them again. Too pricey of a tire if I'm needing to replace every 3 years.
Having my first set of Defenders replaced today with another set. First set lasted 90 k miles. Never considered another tire. They do cost a little more upfront, but they last longer and are ultimately less costly per mile than other tires. I am sure the second set will be as good as the first set.
The first set I put on this my Jetta lasted 115k miles and the tread still looked decent. I replaced them just because my daughter was getting the car to take to college. I have 60k on this set and they still look like new. I did try another brand to try to save money and the car wandered all over the road. I took them off with 4000 miles and went back to the Defenders. There is no road noise, and the ride is outstanding. The car tracks true, traction is great (wet, dry, snow), it corners like it's on rails, and I've had no hydroplaning even at 60mph. I would recommend these tires to anyone.
Michelines are really good tires. I would recommend them to anyone.
good
Good tires
Bought four Defenders after OEM Continentals for my 2011 Honda CRV failed after 30k miles. With rotations and proper maintenance every other oil change I have 95k now with a good tread left and have been happy with the results. These tires have proven themselves as a great tire in some harsh Connecticut weather. The tread life is living up to company claims. Quiet ride and great traction in all weather (even now at 95k), and good stopping power in emergency stops. I work 40 miles away and these are good highway cruising tires, saving on gas mileage also. I bought a set for my wife's 1999 Toyota Camry 3 years ago when I bought mine with the assurance of a great traction, long lasting tire. My next set will be Defenders in about 5k miles, before the Winter snows come, so I can have peace of mind safety starting with this season.
90,000 mile warranty that made it to 55,000. Not well suited for Honda Odyssey.
Okay tires, but not at the Michelin price premium. Fine when dry, okay in the rain, awful on snow and ice. Worst part was treadlife: ours were down to wear bars after less than 80k. Not acceptable given the claimed tread life. Do not recommend, would never buy again. This is the second set of Michelins I've been disappointed with. Not good.
I bought these tires because of the reviews and the mileage warranty. I noticed a little more noise than the factory tires (Continental) that only lasted 35k before I had to replace them. So when I was looking, I thought I'd go with a tire the shop I visited suggested. I thought 90k warranty wow maybe that might last me a while. NOT. I had these for 2 years and drove 60k and I need to replace them. I also say they have to be the worst tire in the winter. Maybe it is my car because it is so light, but at one time I could not get out of my driveway when I had 3 inches of snow. They were much better in the slush then the Continental tire but no good trying to get going with any amount of snow. I am trying to find out how much it will cost to replace them under the warranty prorate or go with a different manufacturer. So far, they don't make it simple to get the tires under warranty. Think real long and hard if you do a lot of miles and think they will last - they just might not do the warranty or make sure where you get them installed will help submit a warranty claim for you.
I have had these for about a week now, and I am already impressed. I have never bought Michelins before, and these are wonderful. Putting these on makes my ride feel like a brand new car! I will definitely buy Defenders again.
I'm only basing my review in comparison to my experience with tires for my old Honda (ie Toyo). Keeping in mind the size, weight, etc. differences in vehicles - I was satisfied but not impressed with the overall handling of these, particularly in an emergency "unexpected sudden braking and immediately stopping" kind of situation (avoiding emergencies and accidents are priceless). Over all, I would recommend them to a friend.
These tires were excellent. I have no complaints. I will be needing four tires for my 2008 Honda CRV. I will look towards the Michelin Defenders again.
I love the Defender!!! It's also great on slightly icy roads. Can only recommend them.
I always get these tires and I love them. They are very road friendly. I recommended this brand to a friend of mine and she is just as happy as I am.
Great tire.
Excellent Tires. Quieter than O.E. Continental. Great All-Weather tire.
Great tire!
These are excellent tires and they have lasted a long time for me considering my driving. I would definitely recommend these tires. Great Job Michelin!!!
Have noticed tighter turns and better tire grip w/ smoother acceleration and deceleration.
This is about the 4th set of Michelin tires we have bought. Only 1 pair has lasted close to what it was suppose to have lasted...I have had my tires rotated and made sure they are balanced and lined up. The place that takes care of my car has tried to get them to give me money back on my tires, but we have never received anything. This set we purchase has less than 45 thousand miles on them and they are 90 thousand miles tires. They are worn out and have very little left on them...I wouldn't recommend them!!!
I love the Michelin Defender tires. I felt much safer driving to and from work after buying them.
I was commuting 40 miles to work this last year (80 round trip miles per day). I had the original tires on my car that needed to be replaced last summer. The Defender tires were recommended to me by the my local dealership. After driving in all the Pacific Northwest weather conditions in all 4 seasons, I would definitely recommend these tires. My main concern was traction on the wet roads. These are excellent for that in my opinion. I felt much safer driving that commute every day!
I purchased the Michelin Defender tires for my wife's Impala after my experience with Michelin tires on my truck. Cars and trucks typically have OEMs installing 40k mile tires on their new vehicles and you will typically have to buy new tires around that mileage. My experience with Michelin has been outstanding. I had the tires rotated and balanced every 7k miles and the tread life was still very acceptable when I hit 90k. With this experience in my past I put the 90k warranty Michelin Defender on the Impala. These tires are performing as expected at the 7k miles mark. The threads on them look like new and I will be rotating them soon. The car rides smoother and handles much better on the Michelin tires. I feel easier knowing the tires on my vehicles won't fail me prematurely and my family is safe.
Excellent tires on my Chevy Classic. I was worried about driving in snowy, bad conditions. Michelin Defender tires have lived up to expectations. Last winter was very harsh but I safely drove in poor weather. Of course, sensible driving in winter should always apply no matter the vehicle or tires. Still, these tires made a big difference last winter.
Love the tires a lot. Good choice.
I absolutely love these tires. Smooth ride and great for tight turns.
Really like this set of tires. We get them on all of our cars! It's about time to get a new set!
Tires are extremely quiet and comfortable riding. Car handles better than ever with these tires on it.
Fantastic all season tire. The traction control and also the smooth drive all in one for a tire is a rare find. Glad I got these tires. I am planning to get another set for another car now. I won't go for any other tires other than Michelin Defenders from here on in.
I bought Michelin tires before but this is the first time buying Defender. I am very happy with the tires and my car rides smooth as silk. Thank you.
I put these tires on during last winter and drove in a snowstorm. Traction was great. I find that they handle well and hold the road in all conditions, assuming you're not driving like an idiot in the snow and rain...So far the wear on the tread has been great, barley notice any change in 6 months of driving. Definitely recommend them.
thank you
I love my tires! They work great for my car.
Great. Reliable.
Best all around tire I have ever purchased. Tires run true and smooth. Looks like they will go 90,000 easy and maybe beyond.
Great tires. Work good.
Great Tires
I have been driving on Michelin for many, many years and can think of no reason why I would drive on any other tire. Great wear value, great pricing, and all around a great tire.
I love Michelin tires - only tire for me.
Great tires! Very pleased with price and service provided at the tire shop.
Great tires but a little hard for comfort. I still recommend them for performance and durability.
Best tires I ever purchased and I am getting ready to purchase 2 more just like them.
Great tire, would purchase again!
This is the third set of tires on my third car which my wife drives. OE tires were Bridgestone Turanzas that were returned to the dealer at 25,000 miles for adjustment. The inside treads were cracking all the way around. Next set were Continental Pro Contacts rated for 60,000 miles. That and the free road hazard for the first year were great selling points. The tires were noisy and slippery. I slid easily in the rain, and snow traction was poor. I was disappointed at the increased road noise and replaced them at 48,000 miles. I've always driven on Michelin tires on my other cars and bought the Defenders for a number of reasons. What impressed me most was the Promise Pla-- a new warranty that every Michelin tire now has. It is a mileage warranty on every model. This one has a 90,000 mile wear rating; a 30 day ride guarantee - if I did not like them I'd get a full refund and a three year roadside assistance plan. Similar to AAA, if I got a flat, I could call a toll free number and a flatbed truck would come to me and the driver would install my inflated spare or tow me for free up to 150 miles to the shop or another authorized Michelin dealer for free! I was sold. 18,000 miles later I am happy with my purchase. My Jetta drives smoothly with little road noise. My mileage has increased nearly 30 miles per tank and no tire drives like a Michelin! I am glad I spent a little more money for Michelins.
This is a great tire, with a quite, smooth ride. The mileage warranty is great and I have dealt w/Michelin in the past for warranty and they were always very customer oriented and took care of anything that came up. This is the tire you put on your family vehicle. Walk away and have peace of mind! I would recommend this shop to anyone within driving distance. The owner is great, very customer oriented and cares, I have recommended the shop countless times and will continue to do just that.
By far the best tires I have ever owned and I've been driving for 40 years.
Nice tires
Road noise is almost nonexistent. Love the way the tires perform and handle on dry conditions. Tires perform very well in the rain. Last week when the snow fell, we drove on an unplowed/un-salted residential street with 1.5" of snow. We were surprised the brand new tires with less than 5000 miles were just spinning and struggling to grip the road. When my Camry finally starting moving I could feel the tires slipping. Tires are inflated according to car manufacture specs. My overall rating is the tires are excellent in dry/wet conditions, and performs poorly in snowy conditions.
These tires are unbelievable. I had never ever guessed the traction and handling would be this great from these tires. The customer service was amazing and I would recommend to anyone.
I ranked this tire as very high as I have been very pleased with it. I have not had the car in snow but have had no problem on wet roads. They are a good quiet tire, smooth ride, and have held up very well. I have approx 25,000 miles on them and it looks like I should get another 50K out of them. I am so pleased that I am on here looking for the same tires for my wife's car. Yes, the cost is a few dollars more but so far they will be lasting twice as long as the tires that were only $10 cheaper. They are definitely worth it!
This tire has made all the difference in the world for us. Wisconsin is snow covered and slippery for at least 1/4 of the year. Best tire for noticeable difference on handling in all categories. Great tire. Will pursue purchasing another set for 86 year old mother. She still drives and better than most drivers. She has same car, make and model. So nice to go somewhere trustworthy where you can depend on the service. Thanks again.
I am very satisfied with the tires. It is the second time I am purchasing Michelin and I am not disappointed. I would recommend them to anyone.
Great tires.
For an all season tire, this tire is pretty good in water or dry pavement. Snow wise, I went through one winter (2012-2013) with it and it was mediocre - nothing like a true winter tire and was slightly difficult to find traction on ice. Compared to other all season tires I have owned, it's very good, albeit on the pricier side but it's a Michelin and I have had zero problems with it. I also take it out on Autocross and there I found steering response to be somewhat muted (compared to say Falken Azenis or Michelin Pilot Super Sports) and I had to crank up the air pressure to get a good feel for the road (part of that blame falls on the car though). All in all, it's a great tire for an everyday driver and reliable. Plenty of tread depth left on it even after 4 autocross events and 1.5 years of daily driving. Would recommend for sure.
My wife drives 35 miles each way to work and back. I worried about her when her tires were getting low on tread. I researched tires and decided to go with the Micheln Defender. They were more expensive than others but seemed to be a much better tire. "A better tire" was an understatement! The car had a MUCH smoother ride and handled a lot better, even though it wasn't bad before. You could tell a HUGE difference. The service we got from our dealer was nothing less than EXCELLENT! The tires are VERY good on wet roads and also on snowy roads. The best thing about the tires was that I didn't have to worry about my wife driving to work and back home. That take a HUGE worry off of me. She is a good driver but you always seem to worry about those that you love. THANK YOU Michelin!!!!!!
So far so good. Good riding tire in town and on highway for long distance. Smooth, comfortable riding. Not sure about snow traction as I have not driven on snow with these tires.
I have absolutely no complaints about the Michelin Defender tires. I feel safe with them and would not put any other tire on my car. One good thing about the winter weather we had recently was that I was able to test out how the tires handle on the snow and ice. I was extremely pleased.
Immediately noticed improvement in handling and ride after the Michelin Defenders were installed. Far better than the original equipment tires on the CR-V.
Every time I put new Michelin tires on my car, I feel like I am glued to the road - meaning, almost like I am on rails. Love them!
Great tire!!! Replaced the original Equipt tire -- poor tires from the manufacturer. These Michelin's are a fantastic improvement -- if they last half of the 90,000 miles wear they claim, they will be worth it for the safety of my family.
Being a former Bridgestone loyalist, I was very skeptical about purchasing a new brand, nonetheless a relatively new tire in the Michelin Defenders. These new tires would be for my wife's daily driver, a 2009 Camry Hybrid. After having driven her car during hard rain, dry summer days, and several thousand miles back and forth to Chicago from Atlanta, I am now smitten by their performance. Although All-Season tires are designed to be a compromise for performance and durability in multiple climates and environmental conditions, these tires perform flawlessly! I was so convinced of these tires' performance and value that I have purchased them for my daily driver. When my SUV needs new tires, my choice has already been made.
They are the best traction tire when it comes to riding in the snow, but I feel they wear quicker in the hot weather.
Great driving tires.
My wife has the same car. I am buying her a set.
I'm in the military and when I buy tires, I look for the warranty and the longevity of the tires themselves. These tires are great when it has rained or is raining, and I just recently got to try them out in the snow. I would definitely recommend these tires to all of my family.
Michelin Defender tires made this small car safer in all driving conditions. Winter driving has been much more stable with these tires on my car. I will always choose Michelin tires for any other vehicles in the future.
Havent been in snow yet, but they are great on H2O! Amazing tires so far. They are super quiet and smooth.
Great tire, made the drive a lot easier. Gave the vehicle great balance and traction. It also had an effect on the smoothness of the way car drove. Would definitely buy them again.
Quiet ride! Haven't tried them in the snow yet, but sure I will have plenty of opportunities soon!
first set of Michelins I have had. Love them.
Got the Defenders to replace the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S's on my 03 Camry SE, and was pleasantly surprised. They were as good as the Exalto's were, but the Defenders are even better. They are much quieter than the Exalto, they don't transfer as much road noise. The ride is much better, they corner every bit as well, are great in heavy rain, and work only slightly less as well in light snow as the Exalto. But the best part is their rolling resistance is much less. You can actually feel the difference and for close to the same price, too. I actually picked up about a mile per gallon on fuel economy on road trips. I drive a lot and have a little over 15 thousand miles on them and they show almost no wear at all. I very highly recommend them.
These tires are the best. They will last a lifetime if you only drive in town. I got this set for my 03 VW Golf and they are amazing!
Glad I decided on this tire. It handles well and Michelin stands behind their products. Great tire for the mileage warranty and price.
Have had these tires on my van. I liked them.
I recently got a set of these Defenders to replace the set of Harmony's I had on the car and what a difference! The car handled so much better. They're dead quiet... and the wet traction is great! They bit right in the traction control on the Town Car! Additionally, my local shop was very helpful with my rebate. All in all, very very satisfied!!
The quietest, smoothest ride ever. This is the first time I've ever actually noticed a difference in the ride, handling, and quietness of any tire I've ever purchased. I've bought tires for myself and family for a long time and do check into the specs of a tire. With these tires, I could tell driving home after the install that they were a change for the better. So far they are the best tires I've ever owned. I will be getting the Defender tire for my wife's car when she needs them in a few months.
I replaced Michelin Harmony's on my Altima when the Defender was released. I could tell a huge difference before I even got home. So far they have 15K miles and still look brand new, but my dealer rotates them on schedule
Researched many tires and looked at many places and so many said this was the best tire on the market-- well, after driving for over 30 years I would say this tire as many before it are over hyped and too much emphasis on reviews to help sell this tire. It was decent, but for the price, was nothing special and especially not very good in MN winters or even on simple roads with a little snow on them. Treadware warranty is also overstated and this won't be the last tire you buy!
So far I like the tires a lot. This is my first replacement set since I have had the vehicle.
